The Karyakarta Samwad—Contribution of Women in Politics

In this Vidhan Sabha election season, BJP leaders have launched a Twitter campaign called ‘Karyakarta Karta-Dharta’. This campaign has been launched with a view to acknowledge and appreciate the work of the party activists in strengthening the party. This campaign draws its basis from Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s thought process and leadership style. The brave warrior King- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj used to include all his brave Karyakartas, known as Mavalas, in his planning and work. This all-inclusive approach helped Shivaji Maharaj extensively with the Mavalas forming the backbone in turning this long-lived dream of Swarajya into a reality. 

All BJP leaders have initiated the twitter campaign Karyakarta-Karta Dharta and it has gathered a tremendously positive response. Honourable Revenue Minister and the BJP Chief of Maharashtra- Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil is posting several videos on the role of different party activists for BJP, their significance and expectations. 

Recently, Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil has posted a twitter video wherein he is talking about the participation of women activists in politics and its different aspects. In this video, Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil says that the contribution of women has become significant in each and every field today. However, when it comes to politics, the participation of women activists and leaders is only observed during elections. Even when 33% of reservation has been offered to women candidates in the Sthanik Swarajya Sanstha, women's contribution isn’t satisfactory in politics. This condition needs to be changed and it is only possible with the cooperation of the existing male politicians. Basically, they need to motivate women activists to actively participate in politics. Also, male politicians should assign equal responsibilities to female activists. The role of male politicians should be promising, guiding, and motivating for women activists.

Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil further added that the reservation process has been already applied for Sthanik Swarajya Sanstha. Unfortunately, the role of women is seen only during elections, even though 33% reservation is applied. It is possible that in the future, the Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha bodies will offer special reservations to the women category. In this scenario, if women activists or leaders who have been selected aren’t capable of the same or are directionless with reference to the objectives of the country, then, in that case, their contribution to the development of the country will be negligible. According to Mr Patil, this should not happen and to avoid this, women's contribution to politics should be promoted with proper guidance and motivation. Mr Patil also says that if each and every field is marked with the significant contribution of women, then why not politics? 

Mr Patil concludes by saying that quality women contribution should be increased in politics and care should be taken that this leadership is target-oriented and in line with the objectives of the Government.

Through Karyakarta Samvad of the Karyakarta-Karta Dharta campaign, Shri Chandrakant Patil has expressed his views on the participation of women in politics. He has pointed out various significant factors such as the contribution of women that is only seen for elections, which is not acceptable. Mr Patil’s approach to creating a team of women politicians that are capable and direction oriented for the development of a country is highly appreciable. Hopefully, we will be able to see the increasing contribution of women in politics in the near future.
