Society Redevelopment—The Key for Kothrud Makeover

Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil is contesting for the state election through the Kothrud-Pune constituency. Through means of the election campaign, he has strengthened his public relations and gathered massive support as well as backing from several sectors and stakeholders of the society. Mr Patil also had a talk with many housing society committees through meetings and visits. In doing so, he collected significant inputs regarding the problems faced by them and their expectations. After gaining these insights, Mr Patil said that the makeover of Kothrud will only be possible when the way for redevelopment of the society will be hurdle-free.

Mr Patil attended meetings with the authorities of many housing societies in Kothrud area. Through these meetings, he has been successful in knowing and analysing the issues associated with these societies. Additionally, he also received inputs regarding local problems faced by the people of that area. He had many interactive sessions with the society officials regarding the solutions on different problems on the State Government level.
Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil said that the present rule allows the redevelopment of the society that has an access road of minimum 9 mt. width. However, there has been a strong public demand to change this rule and allow redevelopment to any society that bears a 6-metre wide road. The modification of this rule will be nothing but revolutionary and it will open new ways for modernisation and civilisation.
Mr Patil further added that many other demands are being considered such as the cluster development model which has proved to be a success in Parel, Mumbai. If this type of model is feasible in Kothrud or is it possible to increase FSI and allow vertical expansion to overcome the limitations of horizontal expansion, or combined redevelopment of two housing societies, etc.
Mr Patil assured that he is committed to transforming Kothrud positively. But this journey will need the cooperation and guidance of the citizens too. In addition to this, the State Government’s decisions and plans will be in line with the development and progressive approach. Mr Patil also expressed his hope that the well-cultured and well-educated people of Kothrud area will support him for the transformation of Kothrud that suits the present era.
Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil’s approach and hard work for the election campaign is highly appreciable. He had successful meetings with various stakeholders of the society including senior citizens, students, faculties, sportspeople, artists, housing society officials, etc. Kothrud in Pune area is marked as a historical part of the city and was known as “Kothrud Pargana”. As time passed, the village was included under the Pune Corporation. Kothrud is mainly recognised for sophisticated housing societies. However, many of these societies demand permission for redevelopment to get better modern outlook and comfort. The technical aspects and legal matters are complicated in some cases. Hopefully, Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil will be successful in finding some way out of these technical matters and the demands of societies. In short, the redevelopment initiatives of different societies will be a step towards modernization and the civilisation that assures comfort and Mr Patil will receive an opportunity to achieve these major changes in the Kothrud area.
