Ganesh festival. The decision is to waive the toll for the travellers who would
be visiting Konkan through Kolhapur route. The toll exemption duration will be
from 30th August to 12th September 2019. This decision has greatly
relieved Chakarmani who are supposed to visit Konkan villages for their biggest
festival.
PWD Minister conducted a review
meeting to take the review of road conditions connecting to Konkan area for
upcoming Ganesh festival traffic load requirements. The decision was taken in
this meeting, which was also attended by Higher and Technical Education
Minister, Mr Vinod Tavade, School Education Minister Mr Ashish Shelar, Minister
of State Mr Ravindra Waikar, State Minister Home(Rural) Mr Deepak Kesarkar, MLA
Vaibhav Naik, Road Department Secretary Mr C. P. Joshi, PWD Building department
Secretary Mr Ajit Sagane and National Highway Authority Mr Deshpande.
During this meeting, Mr Chandrakant Patil said
that due to the incessant raining in this monsoon season, the road condition is
not good in Konkan and Western Maharashtra belt. In fact, it is worsened during
such situations, so there should not be an inconvenience to the travellers who
are travelling to Konkan during the Ganesh Festival. In line with this
requirement, the PWD department has tried to improve the road condition with
repair work. Accordingly, necessary instructions are circulated to the
officials for road development and construction works. According to Mr Patil,
many devotees and Chakarmani travel to Konkan region via Mumbai-Kolhapur route.
In order to provide them better and comfortable journey facilities, the State
Government has decided to waive the toll on Mumbai-Kolhapur route for the
travellers who are travelling to the Konkan region. Mr Patil also informed that
Mumbai-Goa highway work is in progress and it will be accelerated once the
climatic conditions allow. He also added that authorities are instructed to
provide essential information on the highway, including names of the cities and
villages, junction board, rambler strips, road strip, and speed breakers.
PWD Minister, Shri Chandrakant Dada
Patil has given a great surprise to the travellers who are travelling to the
Konkan area for Ganesh festival. This year Konkan region and western
Maharashtra belt were badly affected due to flood conditions. In this situation,
the State Government has undertaken many relief measures and initiatives for
normalising the conditions. Ganesh festival is celebrated with enthusiasm and a
big deal in the Konkan region. People of Konkan area generally work at big
cities such as Mumbai and they visit their villages every year on the
auspicious occasion of Ganesh festival. Honourable Revenue Minister has
relieved this Chakarmani class by offering toll-free journey to them and road
improvement initiatives. Hopefully, Chakarmani will enjoy the festival with joy
and comfort.
