Instructions to Corporation Authorities About Pilgrimage Development Plan
The
Guardian Minister of Kolhapur, Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil has strictly
instructed Corporation authority with reference to Mahalakshmi temple
pilgrimage development plan. Honourable Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil has initiated
the project of Mahalakshmi temple development work during his tenure as Public
Works Minister. He also sanctioned required budget for the necessary changes
but according to recent sources, Kolhapur Corporation is ready to change the
sanctioned developmental plan of Mahalaxmi temple and honourable guardian
minister Chandrakant Patil is disappointed with this decision. He has strictly
instructed corporation authority that the runtime changes in the pilgrimage
development plan are not preferable.
Mr
Chandrakant Dada Patil said that while sanctioning pilgrimage developmental
plan, they have already contemplated many facts and considerations, now if
Corporation is again ready to incorporate major changes in the plan, including
the change in location of pandal and its design, it will need the new plan with
new design, followed by its approval procedures and it will again take many
years for further processes and completion. For many developmental
initiatives, many authorities and people instruct and guide with their
suggestions and instructions, but if Government has a particular stand with
reference to the particular developmental initiative, it is necessary to
implement those instructions firmly. Project committees cannot welcome all the
instructions given by other stakeholders. Mr Patil has also warned the
Commissioner that Kolhapur people never allow any compromising actions for land
acquisition. No one will contribute with one inch of land for any such project.
In this situation, the funds allocated for temple pandal are pending and due to
subsequent changes in the design, the funds are not going to be utilised for
the proposed work. It is necessary to start other pending works in the
development plan using those funds.
According
to Mr Patil in any pilgrimage developmental plan, the pandal is the most
important thing and devotees find it the most attractive place in the temple.
He also suggested the authorities to continue the same design and location for
the pandal which is proposed in the previous plan.
Mr
Patil further said that the pandal design was finalized by considering feeding
centre, quality canteen in the pandal itself, but despite providing necessary
funds, the work progress is not satisfactory due to the debates and disputes in
the work process. Due to the busy schedule, Mr Patil is not able to pay
attention towards this matter and hence, he instructed corporation Commissioner
Dr Kalashetty to conduct a meeting with District Collector to discuss these
issues and finalize the decisions regarding it. Dr Kalashetty has also replied
that the finalization of the pilgrimage development plan will be done after his
meeting with the District Collector.
Shri
Chandrakant Dada Patil has substantial contributions for the developmental
initiatives in Kolhapur district, including forts development, airport
development, Mahalaxmi temple development, and many other tourist places.
During his tenure as the Public Works Department’s Minister, he has undertaken
many developmental initiatives in Kolhapur district. Kolhapur Mahalakshmi
temple has been the most important tourist attraction and sacred place in
Southern Maharashtra. Despite having a provision of sufficient funds for
pilgrimage development plan, the work is not being completed due to debates and
disputes which is a really frustrating situation for anyone. Mr Chandrakant
Patil has clearly expressed his views about the temple development plan which
clearly reflects his matured thinking. Hopefully, the Corporation authorities
will be able to conclude on the pilgrimage development plan and accordingly,
the actions will be taken in order to assure Mahalaxmi temple development work. For more information on
