Fight with Natural Calamity
Incessant rains in Maharashtra resulted in flood situations in
many districts. Heavy rainfall has forced the release of dam water into rivers
increasing the water level and possibility of flood in adjoining areas. The
rising water levels in the Pune area triggered the closing of 30 bridges in
Pune and PCMC area. Flood situation in Kolhapur and Sangli districts is also
terrifying. Panchaganga and Krishna rivers are overflowing causing flood in
Kolhapur and Sangli low-lying areas. In this situation, Guardian Minister of
Pune and Kolhapur district, Honourable Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil has appealed
people to co-operate with the administration to control the condition.
The Revenue Minister Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil has posted one
video on his Twitter handle. In this video, he has urged people to cooperate in
this helpless flood condition. He has also assured that the administration is
vigilant and active enough to overcome the situation through various means. Mr
Patil also informed that NDRF teams are working commendably to rescue the
trapped people. Moreover, helicopters and other mechanisms such as boats are
being used to rescue the flood-affected people. On the other hand, people are
not cooperating in exceptional cases due to their materialistic approach. Mr
Patil has requested people to cooperate with the administration for flood
relief and rescue works.
Mr Chandrakant Patil has also informed that administration is well
co-coordinating further necessities such as the release of dam water in
corresponding rivers. This might increase water levels in the cities and
villages located on the river bank. But the administration will need to take
the necessary steps in order to avoid the risk of a dam wall collapse.
Shri Chandrakant Patil has also requested all political party workers including
Shiv Sena and BJP to be proactive and capable in providing necessary facilities
to the rescued and affected people at rescue centres. He has also appealed to
social organizations to help needy people. 1077 is the emergency helpline
number provided by the Government for any urgent help. People can contact on
this number in any threatening and emergency condition.
Finally, Shri Patil has conveyed an important message that
stopping incessant rainfall is not in anybody’s hands, but Government, army and
social organizations can endeavour to improve the situation in flood-affected
areas with the cooperation of the masses.
Being Guardian Minister of Pune district, Mr Patil has also
visited flood-affected families in Lonavala and the vicinity areas. He also has
supported rescued people at Pimple-Nilakh by visiting them at corporation
school and promising them about the Government’s stand and support. He also has
visited the flood-affected people from Sangvi area and requested officers to
take care of these people.
Guardian Minister has well conveyed the necessary instruction
through the Twitter video. This message is promising for the people who are
badly affected due to the incessant rainfall. Mr Patil has also
instructed authorities, administration regarding necessary provisions. Revenue
Minister Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil’s stand and approach during this natural
calamity are really appreciable and strong. His concluding statement saying
that ‘rainfall control is not in hand, but the situation can be controlled’
reflects his matured and experienced thought process. His personal meetings
with the flood-affected people are very poignant for the people who have been
impacted by these devastating floods. Guardian Minister has put great efforts
to handle this tough situation. Optimistically, this systematic approach and
strategies would get the success in overcoming the flood condition in the
state.
