E-Bus Launch Event in Pune
Pune city is transforming rapidly
under the smart city project of Government of India. Under this ambitious
project, 50 e-buses have been brought in PMP’s fleet along with 50 CNG buses.
The inaugural ceremony for the launch of these smart buses was graced by the
presence of senior citizens and school going students who regularly use public
transport. The function was also attended by Guardian Minister of Pune
and Maharashtra, BJP chief Honourable Mr Chandrakant Patil.
Other dignitaries for this function
were MP Girish Bapat, Shri Sanjay Kakade, Mayor Mukta Tilak, Commissioner
Saurabh Rao, Pune Smart City Executive Officer Dr Rajendra Jagtap, CMD of PMPML
Nayna Gunde, Director Siddharth Shirole, etc. During this bus launch
event, Honourable Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil enjoyed the smart bus ride and
took information about its smart features.
A total of 150
electric buses are being inducted in the first phase under the Smart Electric
Bus project. The new stuff includes 25 non-BRT AC electric buses of 9 meters in
length, and 125 BRT AC electric buses of 12 meters in length. In the initial
stage, 25 Smart E-buses were purchased. Now, 50 more Smart E-buses have been
inducted by PSCDCL and 50 CNG buses have also been taken by PMPML.
On this occasion,
Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil said that Pune Smart City is implementing a
Smart E-Bus project that will smoothen the public transport system in Pune.
Also, these efforts are in line with the Prime Minister’s dream of making 100
smart cities in the country.
MP Shri Girish Bapat
said that these projects are beneficial for long term basis and will support
Punekars.
Different smart
features of the e-Bus include pollution-free system, zero-emission, no sound pollution,
less vibration and jerks, no breakdown and trip cancellation, AC bus with
regular charges, Digital Route boards for the convenience of passengers. It is
expected that this bus will achieve 10-20% rise in the revenue as compared to
the old buses.
This project will
add to the convenience of Pune public with the hassle-free and comfortable
transport system. It is one step towards making Pune, a Smart City. Pune city’s
major public transport system is based on PMP buses. This smart e-bus will be a
cost-effective value addition to travellers. It will greatly help women, senior
citizens, and students who frequently travel by PMP buses. Smart E-Bus is a
power-packed public transport solution inducted for the Pune city. Its extent
can be increased in the future with the success of previous phases.
Revenue Minister of
Maharashtra Honourable Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil has been recently appointed as
Guardian Minister of Pune district. After his appointment, many pending and
incomplete projects in Pune and vicinity are taking a momentum. The Smart bus
project is a great achievement in the journey of Pune Smart City transformation
and make-over. The inaugural ceremony of the e-bus launch was a surprise pack
without any formal course. We convey our best wishes to this project and hope
that many smart initiatives would be undertaken and fulfilled under the guiding
leadership of Guardian Minister Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil.
