Tanker Water Supply And Fodder Camps Will Be Continued
The drought conditions in the State
of Maharashtra have known to become only severe year after year. But the fact
that the State and the Central Government have been implementing different
drought relief programmes in the state and the situation is under control,
comes across as a sigh of relief. Agriculture Minister of the state- Honourable
Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil informed that the water tanker and the fodder camp
facilities will be made available to the farmers in the region until sufficient
water and fodder is available. It is expected that, by mid-June, monsoon will
arrive and cast its spell in the state.
Agriculture Minister- Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil is
heading to the subcommittee constituted especially for drought relief. During
this meeting, it has been decided that fodder camps will also be started for
goats and sheeps in the state. One such fodder camp has already been started in
Sangola Taluka. The meeting was headed by the Honourable Revenue Minister, Mr
Chandrakant Dada Patil. A few other prominent faces in attendance were-
Corporation Minister, Mr Subhash Deshmukh, Tourism and Employment Guarantee
Scheme Minister Mr JayKumar Rawal, Agriculture Commissioner Mr. Eknath
Dawale, Help and Rehabilitation Minister Mr Kishor Raje Nimbalkar.
During this subcommittee meeting, a
review of different drought relief programmes was conducted. Honourable Revenue
Minister, Mr Chandrakant
Patil also informed that as of today, 1583 fodder camps are active in the
state and more than 10 Lakhs cattle has been admitted to the fodder camp. Also,
the tanker water supply has benefitted more than 5000 villages and 10000
colonies in the state. It is expected that by 17th June, the State of
Maharashtra will receive regular rainfall and due to the efforts of the
Jalyukta Shivar campaign, the process of water conservation will begin
immediately thereafter. Around 67 Lakhs 47 Thousand 835 farmers are the
beneficiaries of the drought relief funds. Furthermore, for fodder camps, the
Aurangabad region has been allotted with a fund of Rs. 135.18 Crores, the Pune
region with Rs. 5.07 Crore, and the Nashik region with Rs. 47 Crore
Rupees.
Honourable Revenue Minister Mr
Chandrakant Dada Patil also informed that instructions have been given to the
respective authorities regarding the compensation of the Banana crop in Jalgaon
district. On account of the unexpected rainfall received in the region on last
Sunday, the Banana crops at Jalgaon were destroyed to quite an extent. The
State Government will support the affected farmers in this case and the
authorities have been guided to carry out the further procedure accordingly.
Also, the authorities have been instructed to run the tanker water facility and
fodder camps until sufficient water and fodder are available.
Different initiatives taken up by the
Maharashtra state government and the Agriculture Minister Mr Chandrakant Dada
Patil with regards to the drought relief programmes are highly appreciable.
These efforts provide ample relief to the farmers and help in restoring
people’s trust on the Government systems. Honourable Agriculture Minister, Mr
Chandrakant Dada Patil is very innovative in his practices and his decision
also underlines his systematic approach and innovations. The different plans
and initiatives taken up for drought relief also indicate how well-prepared the
Maharashtra State Government is when it comes to facing this perennial and
unfortunate drought situation.
