Solar Energy—an Abundant Energy Resource for Farmers
Solar energy has been the most abundant and promoted source of
power. The government also promotes the utilisation of solar energy as much as
possible. Fortunately, due to the tropical climatic conditions of India, it is
possible to take the utmost advantage of solar energy as an alternative energy
resource. Revenue Minister of Maharashtra, Honourable Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil
recently attended an event at Kolhapur for public launching of a 2.42-Megawatt
capacity solar project under the Government scheme ‘Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi
Vahini’. During this function, he said that there is no other alternative to
solar energy for providing inexpensive electric power to the farmers and
businesses. Also, the Government initiatives for solar projects will prove
highly beneficial to the farmers.
Recently, the Revenue Minister, who is also the Guardian Minister
of Kolhapur district, Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil attended an event for the
public launching of the 2.42-Megawatt solar project. Through this project, the
Central Government has signed a contract with EESL Company for 200-Megawatt
power generation. Due to this initiative, Gadhinglaj, Halkarni of Gadhinglaj
Taluka and Shinoli of Chandgad Taluka respectively will have 1 Megawatt, 0.7
Megawatt and 0.5-Megawatt capacity, small size solar energy projects and its beneficiaries
will be 500 farmers and their motor pumps.
The public launch event of solar energy project was also attended
by Mhada President Mr Samarjeet Singh Ghadge, MLA Sandhyadevi Kupekar, MLA Mr
Hasan Mushrif, Shripatrao Shinde, Gadhinglaj Mayor Smt Swati Kori, Halkarni
Sarpanch Smt Vilasmati Sheravi,Shinoli Sarpanch Smt Namrata Patil,
Mahavitaran Chief Engineer Mr Anil Bhosale, Incharge Superintendent Engineer Mr
Sagar Marulkar, Executive Engineer Mr Surendranath Bhoye, EESL Director Mr
Vyankatesh Dwivedi, and Regional
Director Mr Deepak Kokate, etc.
During this event, Honourable Guardian Minister of Kolhapur
District Shri Chandrakant
Patil said that due to the scarcity of coal and traditional resources, now
it is the time to reduce our dependence on traditional energy resources. There
is also a restriction on electricity production based on water. At this point,
the only abundant resource for electricity is solar energy and it is available
throughout 365 days in the year. For implementing solar energy projects, just a
one-time investment is essential for its setup. If the Government increases the
contribution or investment in solar energy projects, it will be easily possible
to help the farmers in the state and to continue agricultural processes with
the help of solar energy.
Government scheme ‘Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini’ promoted solar
energy production by the contract between the Central Government and EESL
company. According to this contract, 200-Megawatt power generation is
anticipated in the free space of Mahavitaran. Launch event for the solar
project was graced with the presence of Honourable Revenue Minister Shri
Chandrakant Dada Patil.
The government initiatives for different development activities,
research, and technological advancements are highly appreciable. Being PWD
Minister of Maharashtra, Respectable Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil
also implemented the ‘Green Building’ concept for government buildings and
campuses. Even this concept encourages the installation of solar panels on government
building rooftops and accordingly, the use of solar energy for lights and other
equipment. Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil has been the most innovative and
experimental leader of the Maharashtra State Cabinet and his leadership style
will definitely bring optimistic changes in Maharashtra.
